Dev Update #1 — Hello, NUWE
Why we started, what we have so far, and where this is going.
Патчноуты пока публикуются только на английском.
The official New World servers go offline on January 31, 2027. When they do, the island goes dark — the cities, the trading posts, the expeditions, the years players put into it.
We didn’t want that to be the end. NUWE is our attempt to keep it alive — a fan-made revival of New World, with a new client being built in Unreal Engine 5 and a game server written by us.
Where we are
- Server foundation — a headless game server with its own database and persistence is running.
- First assets in Unreal Engine 5 — our asset pipeline is up, and the first buildings and props render in-engine.
- Materials & world — this is what we’re working on right now.
What’s next
Terrain, client–server networking, characters and animation — and only then the first playable build for a small group of testers. We’ll post every meaningful step here in the patch notes.
Fair warning
NUWE is an unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon Games. There is no release date yet — when we have one, you’ll hear it here first.
