Is this official?
No. NUWE is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon Games.
What exactly is NUWE?
A fan revival of New World: a new game client being built in Unreal Engine 5 and game servers written by us, so the island can live on after the official servers shut down on January 31, 2027.
When can I play?
There is no release date yet. We are in the World Building stage. Closed testing will be announced first in the patch notes, and on Discord once it opens.
Who decides what changes in the game?
Players set the direction: new content and the big questions about how the world works will go to a community vote. Balance, levelling speed and the economy are tuned by the team based on data, openly and with community feedback. More in Shaped by players.
Will my old character carry over?
No. NUWE runs its own servers and has no access to official account or character data — everyone starts fresh.
Why Unreal Engine 5?
A clean rebuild lets us fix problems at the root instead of inheriting them, and gives the island a modern renderer on today’s hardware.
How can I help?
Follow the patch notes and join the Discord when it opens. We will be looking for testers first, and later for people who want to contribute.
